Cthulhu Dark

Created by Graham Walmsley

Cthulhu Dark is a tabletop roleplaying game of cosmic horror, with stripped-back rules that drive a bleak and terrifying story.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Burgundy
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 15, 2017 at 12:10:07 AM

If you backed Cthulhu Dark for a leatherbound copy, this update is for you.

So, I really appreciate what you did. You took a risk. You hadn't seen what the leather edition would look like, but you trusted me to deliver you something good.

And it's come out well. The leather edition is beautiful. It's hard to capture in a photograph, but let's try...

As you can see, it's burgundy leather, inlaid with gold foil. There's a subtle texture on the leather, which you can just see if you look closely.

And here's a close-up of the eye symbol, designed by Nathan Paoletta. You can see the texturing of the leather even more clearly here.

Inside the book, the paper is higher quality than the normal hardback edition. It's a weightier paper, with a satin finish.

I'm delighted with how this has turned out. I think you'll be happy too. Thanks again for your support.

Cthulhu Dark is printed
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2017 at 09:16:22 PM

Cthulhu Dark is printed. And here's what happens next.

If you're in the United States, your book will be shipped by Indie Press Revolution (IPR) in the US. The books are on their way now and I'm told they'll take 3 to 4 weeks to get there. When IPR receive them, they'll start sending them out to you. So, we'll almost certainly send them out in December, as promised, and it's looking good that you'll get the books by Christmas.

If you're anywhere outside the United States, including Canada, Brazil and so on, your book will be shipped by Kixto in the United Kingdom. Kixto received the books today and they'll start sending them out shortly.

And, yes, those are the timescales for both leatherbound and hardback editions.

Before you get too excited, there are often problems in shipping. Books arrive damaged. Shipments get delayed. Unpredictable things happen.

So, as always, get in touch if there's a problem. My email is graham at thievesoftime dot com. You can also send me a private message on Kickstarter. (I'd prefer you send me a private message than leaving me a comment, so we can work out how to solve things for you.)

Thanks so much for your enthusiasm as Cthulhu Dark has come together. I'm delighted that we're nearly there. Hey, here's a picture of a pile of books.

Update your shipping address
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 06, 2017 at 08:08:21 PM

If you're getting a physical book, then please update your shipping address in BackerKit now. I'll lock down responses in 48 hours.

If you haven't used BackerKit yet, it's really easy. Start at https://cthulhudark.backerkit.com/ and go from there.

And, yes, things are happening! More shortly.

Feast

If you check your BackerKit account, you'll find As Good As A Feast, Mo Holkar's wonderful mystery set in the 1930s Dust Bowl, which we unlocked as a stretch goal. I think you'll enjoy it.

While you're in BackerKit, I'd be grateful if you could update your address details. When the time comes to send books, I want to make sure I'm sending to the right place!

Meanwhile, we're on track to send out books in December, as promised. You'll see some changes in the final book: there are handwritten handouts; the "Keeper" is renamed "Director"; and there are even some campaign rules, which are as succinct as you'd expect for Cthulhu Dark.

I'm working out a schedule with the printer now. One thing I'm keeping an eye on is the Christmas post: I think we'll hit it, but I'll keep you updated.

As always, if there are any issues, get in touch. I'm graham at thievesoftime dot com or you can send me a private message on Kickstarter. (If you leave a comment to tell me about an issue, I'll also deal with it, but I might be slower, for complicated reasons about what I can do on my phone.)

Meanwhile, enjoy As Good As A Feast. It's a beautifully atmospheric mystery.
